GnuCash 5.0 is out now, and this version brings several new features.

GnuCash is a financial software suitable for individuals or small businesses. It is open source under the GPL agreement and supports GNU / Linux, BSD, Solaris, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows. GnuCash is easy to use and powerful enough to track bank accounts, stocks, income and expenses, as well as ensure balance and provide accurate reports based on professional accounting principles.

A highlight of GnuCash version 5.0 is the new Stock Trading Assistant, accessible from the Actions menu, which helps users complete most bond, fund and stock investment transactions.

This release also introduces the “Investment Lot Report” feature, which shows a chart of capital gains and losses by investment lot over time. This feature is only available when managing capital gains and losses using the View Batch dialog, accessible from the Reports > Assets & Liabilities menu.

The new version is stillNew/Edit AccountThe dialog brings up the “More Properties” tab, which makes it easy to set the minimum and maximum limits for the account.

In terms of program architecture, GnuCash 5.0 adds support for the new GMenu/GMenuModel system to the GTK menu structure, adds new commands to the gnucash-cli command line version of GnuCash, and changes the Unicode normalization for string matching from NFKC to NFC. Changes affect font and position.
