Snal Linux is a tiny Arch Linux-based Linux system with the i3 window manager and Firefox web browser, typically used as a live USB image to troubleshoot hard drive, system, and network issues. Like Arch, Snal Linux only supports the x86_64 architecture.

Currently Snal Linux has released version 1.24. Snal Linux 1.24 brings some new features, including some commands written in Rust:

  • bat was added as a modern replacement for cat
  • bottom was added as a modern replacement for top.
  • exa was added as a modern replacement for ls
  • dust was added as a modern replacement for du.
  • procs was added as a modern replacement for ps.
  • Added taskwarrior for managing tasks.
  • Added xkcdpass to generate easy-to-remember passwords.
  • Add yay to manage aur packages, tty-clock, xkcdpass and yay are all installed from AUR.
