Recently, in ClickBench, an analytical database performance test leaderboard initiated by ClickHouse,The new generation of cloud-native data warehouse SelectDB has reached the top, and its performance exceeds that of many domestic and foreign products. In the ClickBench performance rankings, the test data are all taken from the real production environment, covering a variety of data types, covering typical scenarios such as ad hoc queries and statistical reports, which can truly reflect the performance of major databases in the production environment, thus attracting Snowflake, Participation of internationally renowned databases such as Redshift, Athena, Greenplum, Druid, etc. The indicators evaluated are the time to import the same data set, the amount of storage space occupied, and the time-consuming execution of SQL under a specific model, which are used to measure data import performance, data compression ratio, and query performance, respectively. The one with the best performance among all the test results will become the baseline, and the indicators of the same test item will be compared with the baseline data to obtain a ratio, which is used to reflect the gap with the best in the industry. When a new test result exceeds the original baseline, it will automatically become the new baseline.

In terms of query performance, Hot Run and Cold Run will be executed for each SQL respectively to count the time, that is, the SQL will be repeatedly executed 3 times and the one with the shortest time will be taken, and the memory will be started and executed directly after clearing the memory. The geometric mean of the ratio of the execution time to the baseline is the final test result. Therefore, ClickBench pays more attention to the excellent performance of the database in all test scenarios, rather than one or several scenarios, which makes the database need all-round capability improvement.

In the test results submitted this time, SelectDB topped the list with strong query performance. Without any tuning,SelectDB query performance ranks first among all products of the same model as c6a.4xlarge, 500gb gp2, Hot Run and Cold Run outperformed the second place by 35% and 25%, respectively. Among all 43 SQLs, nearly half of the query statements SelectDB have the best performance and become a new performance benchmark. At the same time, the data writing efficiency of SelectDB ranks second among all products of the same model. Before compression, 70G data writing takes only 482s.Single node write speed exceeds 140MB/swhich not only achieves extreme query performance, but also ensures efficient write efficiency.

From the perspective of query time-consuming, compared to other top-ranking products, SelectDB has reduced the overall query time by 63%, 75%, 78%, 99% and 459% respectively, and its performance is significantly ahead of similar products.

In the overall list that brings together a number of different models and systems (including the world-renowned cloud data warehouse Snowflake, Redshift, etc.), SelectDB still ranks first in Cold Run query performance and No. 1 in Hot Run query performance among all products of the same type. The excellent results of the second show a strong performance advantage.

In the test results of another general-purpose model, c6a.metal, 500gb gp2, compared to other top-ranked products, the overall query time of SelectDB in the Cold Run scenario is only 1/4 to 1/10 of that of similar products. Without any tuning, the query performance is nearly 11 times ahead of similar products, showing a huge lead.
